I live in what’s supposed to be an “upscale mobile home community”, in other words, it’s a trailer park run by a rich yuppie who thinks this is the O.C., California or something. And by the way, the part about it being upscale is in my words, because of the many arbitrary rules we have, that I believe only exist because the rich yuppies think they are gods and they can make and enforce ANY rules they want. That’s the definition of arbitrary: unfair, pointless, based on personal preference/judgement, and/or based on a “you’ll do as I say simply because I can make you do anything I want” high-and-mighty attitude. I’m going to see if I can get some input from an attorney (although I’ve never been able to get so much as Legal Aid to talk to me before), but according to what information I’ve dug up online, it looks like there might be a chance that some of these rules could be found arbitrary and not be able to be enforced upon us in court.
I also came across this site, which isn’t much help, but it does confirm that the existence of mobile home parks in itself is a predatory form of real estate that preys upon the elderly and the poor who can not afford close to $200,000 for a real house. It does note that WV is one of the states where there has to be a really good reason for eviction.
We have NEVER been late on our lot rent in the 8 years we’ve lived here. NEVER! To make matters worse, the lot rent has gone up and up and up every several months. What began at $175/mo is now $260/mo, making us the most expensive trailer park in the area, at which no utilities are covered when at other trailer parks in the area with comparable lot rents include garbage pick up, and some include water as well. So we pay more than anyone else and have no utilities included.
Now, here’s the problem… We are constantly threatened with eviction. We receive letter after letter threatening to evict us because there are a few feral cats around here. Last year we were threatened with eviction because of the feral cats, as if we are supposed to be a fucking cat rescue and trap these cats ourselves?!? Last year I took 13 cats off the streets and found homes for them - catching them with my bare hands as I am too poor to afford the $100 that it costs to buy a live trap. There are 4 ferals left that are too skittish and with my disabilities, I simply can not catch them. So they’ve threatened us, for the 3rd or 4th time now, to evict us because there are feral cats around here. Note their endless list of rules says outside pets are not allowed, and I have told them time and time again the feral cats are not ours, yet they continue to harrass us and threaten eviction. But their rules DO NOT say that we are responsible for controlling feral populations! How about the neighbors who have unneutered males that they allow outside all the time?!? Why don’t they go after those people?!?
No - I believe we are unfairly harrassed in this park because we quite obviously have much less financial means and resources than all of our neighbors. seriously, take a look around at all the nice new SUVs and monster pick up trucks and then look at my peice of shit car. Somehow I just have a feeling that we’re the only ones being threatened with eviction every few months, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we are a target because at least on the surface, it looks like we are quite poorer than most of the other residents here.
Also, we are not the only one violating the mile-long list or arbitrary rules. The rules say no satelite dishes, yet there are more than several dishes here! The rules say that kids shouldn’t be outside unsupervised, but they run around unsupervised in the middle of the street all the time! The rules say that there are to be “no personal effects” outside at any time - which means no belongings are to be outdoors - no toys, no lawn furniture, no plants, nothing - and how many of us have some chairs or a bench or some plants, huh? Not to mention some yards are absolutely littered with kids’ toys and junk, but hey - you’re rich so she’s not going to bother you about breaking the rule is she? Ohh noo of course not! The worst rule of all I believe is that you are not allowed to work at home here! The rules say no running a business of ANY kind! Well that would mean that you can’t sell stuff on eBay, I can’t sell bumper stickers for $1 or anything else on my site, and none of us can use any of those “work at home” programs then. I do know of one person in this park who makes a living with their own home business (no, it’s NOT me).. But that isn’t just an unfair, arbitrary rule, that’s a total human rights violation as far as I’m concerned! I mean, are you fucking serious??? You expect everyone have to report to a job outside the home?!? This is supposed to be the Land of the Free and HOW DARE some foreigner come here and tell us how we are or aren’t allowed to make our money that pays them their ever-increasing rent!! (not that I makie a damn cent with my web site or eBay account, because I don’t, but if I did, don’t fucking tell me how I can or can’t make the money that pays your rich ass.) So anyway, to all of you who have an eBay or any other similar account, we’re all in violation of the rules. Are you ready to stand up for yourselves yet and challenge these unfair rules and practices? Well, you should! I’m tired of living in a world where everyone bends over and takes it up the ass! Grow a spine and take back this world once and for all!!

After several days since posting this, I realise my words may seem harsh, but they are my opinions and views and mine alone. The person I live with does not know how to use a computer or ever view anything on the Internet at all, so what I say can not be held against that person. I thought I should just make that clear. This is FREEDOM OF SPEECH on my part and mine alone.
